Air Publications Explained
Although most air platforms are supported by an S1000D
Interactive Electronic Technical Publication (IETP) some
legacy platforms and/or supporting ground equipment
are supported by Air Publications (APs) or a Digital Air
Publications (DAP) which provide a structured approach
to the presentation of aircraft and aircraft equipment
technical information. They are used by planning staff,
users/operators and technicians responsible for the
operation, maintenance and repair of aircraft and aircraft
equipment.
APs comprise a total of 16 Topics which relate specifically
to aircraft and a further 10 topics dedicated to the
support of aircraft ground support equipment.
The full range of equipment is divided into 19 groups with
further divisions into sub-groups specific to each group.
Books of Reference Explained
Books of Reference (BR) or BRd, a newer digital variant,
provide operational and technical information for Royal
Navy planning staff, operators and technicians involved
with operational use, maintenance or repair of the
equipment.
Army Equipment Support
Publications Explained
Army Equipment Support Publications (AESPs) is one of
the Management series of specifications for Technical
Publications. Produced by the UK MOD, the AESP
provides an information system for supporting managed
equipment. The AESP system provides equipment
support information through a combination of categories
and information levels, which provide a logical organised
presentation of information for planning staff, the
user/operator and maintenance personnel.
AESP categories and applicable information levels are
summarised in the infographic.
