This year, despite the restrictions imposed on
youth organisations by COVID, has been a busy
one for all at 17 (Coningsby) Sqn ATC. In my role
as Sqn Adjutant and civilian instructor, I have
helped and organised the squadron's
involvement in three remembrance activities.
REMEMBRANCE
DAY 2021
BY MAL EMSDEN
The first event was as part of a project, supported by the
Commonwealth War Graves Commission, which helps cadets discover
more about the lives of casualties lost during the two world wars. The
Cadets were assisted with research in the weeks prior to a service
held at Scopwick War graves was part of the Battle of Britain
remembrance service.

The second experience was the Centenary event for
Coningsby War Memorial. I attended this event in two roles,
that of the Sqn Adj and as Vice Chairman of the local RBL.
Due to COVID only the banner party attended and I laid a
wreath on behalf of the Squadron.
The third event was the annual Remembrance Service. At
this event, I supervised the banner and wreath laying
parties and marched as part of the Squadron in the parade
from the church to the memorial.
